We did the castle loop and really enjoyed it, stunning views of water reeds yellow rocks rabbits, dogs were securely on the leads. Would have liked some more information about the Castle…sign just informed us it belonged to the Office of Public Works…fascinating lettering above the door took us a while to decipher. There were beautiful views of water and bits of the castle peeping through the trees….and around the loop magnificent trees some obviously very old. The walk we did had numbers at different points that probably related to an information sheet, but as we are just coming out of lock down the office was firmly closed.

Lovely trail. You can see variety of landscapes on this walk. Forest, meadow, riverside, lakeside and couple of ruins to keep you interested. Well marked, follow the purple arrow.

Really nice woodland walk close to Ennis for all the family. It's an old wood with a wide range of tree species, easy on the legs and excellent underfoot. It was a windy day but the wood gave great protection from the elements. Very well marked. Please note there are a number of other shorter nature trails also marked out in the wood.
