About Sport Ireland
Sport Ireland is the national development agency for sport in Ireland.
Our work spans every level of the sporting system. From the child first starting out in sport, to the elite athlete representing their country on the global stage - we are there, providing the funding, expertise, and support that makes success possible.
We back the National Governing Bodies and Local Sports Partnerships that deliver sport across the country. We develop coaches, build world-class facilities, and generate the evidence that keeps Irish sport moving forward. We champion participation, performance, and inclusion - because sport belongs to everyone.
The 520-acre Sport Ireland Campus in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, is home to world-class sporting and support facilities, with more to come in the years ahead. As a high-performance training facility and an inspiring home for the wider sporting community, the Campus brings elite performance, participation, and recreational sport together, with community and competition use actively encouraged.
Everything we do is driven by a single, clear ambition: ensuring that Ireland is an active nation where people are encouraged to start, continue to participate, progress and achieve in sport. We are committed to nurturing a sports sector built on inclusion, integrity, excellence, and accountability - one that gives everyone in Ireland the opportunity to discover what sport can do for them.
In 2018, the Department of Culture Communications and Sport published the National Sports Policy 2018 - 2027, which sets the policy context for our work as reflected in the Sport Ireland Statement of Strategy 2023-2027. Sport Ireland strongly endorses the Policy and, as the statutory agency responsible, will play a lead role in delivering many of its key operational and strategic priorities.
