Mayo County Council recently purchased this location with plans for the purchase of adjacent forest. This is is simple walk along the old driveways into the old house which was maliciously destroyed by fire. Works are ongoing on the repair of the walled gardens. There are beautiful wood carvings of native animals on the walk

Lovely walk through woods past the Moore Hall house and walled gardens. Easy walk and you can have a picnic by the lake afterwards. Nice sandy beach right next to carpark. Great for dog owners as dogs can be off leash. No sheep nearby.Note from Sport Ireland - National Trails Office: Although dogs are permitted on Coillte sites where walkers are welcome Coillte's Recreation Policy states: Walkers with dogs in Coillte lands are expected to exercise ‘effectual control’ over their dogs at all times.
