This loop takes walkers on minor road, forestry tracks and woodland trails which gently ascend through the mixed forest to the Wellington Monument folly at the summit of the Crag Hill. From its highest points, the views from the walk on top of the Slieveardagh Hills are spectacular, starting with the Kilcooley Estate and extending to the west and south across the wide central plain of Tipperary to the hills and mountains of bordering counties from Cork, Limerick, Laois and beyond. The marked forest path takes you along a winding ridge with superb views to an area of old deciduous wood where it crisscrosses a fast-flowing stream by bridges and steps.

Wished I lived nearer. It's a complete stress buster, with its lovely nature walk for families and slow walkers, while the steeper walk has fantastic views of several counties and the Wellington spire for an even better view. On finishing the walk the quaint little village shop and pub is a great refresher, but not open Sundays. Overall my fav trail walk, especially as we were allowed bring our dog as well. We will be back.

This is a really pleasant trail with an interesting folly at the top, up which it is possible to climb for fantastic views over the surrounding area. Good shoes needed!

Kilcooley Abbey is just a few minutes drive away and worth a visit too!
