This trail, mainly on path, includes a tranquil woodland and an open area of rock and grass on the way to the Scalp Lookout which gives beautiful views to Tonduff, Maulin and the Great Sugar Loaf Mountains before passing through Beech trees and on to Corsican pine and Noble fir.

When following the red route in Barnaslingan heading for the Scalp viewing area, please note that after the left turn at the corner there is a right turn very shortly afterwards through a gap in the old stone wall indicated by a red way marker on the tree, follow the red way markers up the hill and you will start to see the view appearing ahead of you and it will bring you to the rock slabs that will give you the splendid views.

I had same experience as last reviewer. Follow the red markings and you go down the hill and the path ends, tried to find our own way and we seemed to be near but just missed the viewing point. Very frustrating :(

I visited the Scalp Lookout Trail to day Sunday 19 July 2015. I had come from Lead Mines Trail which was very well marked but unfortunately was not the same for Scalp Trail. I started at the car park, followed the red marks until I came to a T junction, I turned left to follow red marks but could not see any more red marks so did not complete the loop. I met another person who was also lost. I went around circles to find my way back to the T junction and back to car

This was very disappointing.
