Mountaineering Ireland is the representative body for a wide spectrum of activities including trailwalking, hillwalking, indoor climbing, rockclimbing and winter mountaineering.

The different aspects of our sport are easy to try out. Mountaineering Ireland has more than 190 clubs dotted around the island of Ireland, the majority are hillwalking clubs, some walk mainly on trails and others focus on climbing. Most of our clubs welcome beginners and will allow you to go out with them a couple of times without having to join the club.

Hiking is a fantastic way to experience Ireland’s coastline, countryside and mountains. It’s a super way to switch off, and also to meet new people. You might get wet, but we bet you’ll be blown away by the beauty of Ireland’s scenery.

If the excitement of indoor climbing appeals to you climbing walls provide an ideal venue for you to make your first moves in climbing in a comfortable environment.
