
HER OUTDOORS 2025 - Introduction to Scrambling - Waterford
HER Outdoors Week returns once again from 11th – 17th August, and what a week it will be! The week is all about providing more opportunities for ALL females to escape to the outdoors and try something new.
This Introduction to Scrambling Skills activity will be based in Waterford, meeting at Crough Coffee.
This event will start at 9.30am and will finish by approximately 3.30pm.
This activity is suitable for those who want to explore off the trail and learn how to negotiate steeper, rocky terrain. Scrambling is described as the middle ground between walking and climbing. Routes are usually over broken ground and involve the use of hands on the rock/steep ground. This activity will work on movement techniques, balance, route choice, and spotting. This is designed for beginners so no previous experience necessary.... just a desire to explore!
What gear do I need?
- Participants must wear a climbing helmet - please bring a helmet if you have one, if you do not please email christina@mountaineering.ie and you will be provided with one
- Usual hillwalking gear is essential to be prepared for all weathers, including rain gear.
- Hillwalking boots are strongly recommended.
- Rucksack, including Lunch, plus water and some extra warm layers.
- Comeragh map, optional.
- Mobile phone (fully charged)
Please note this event is for women over the age of 18.
Refund policy: refunds will be issued if requested at least 7 days prior to the event. For refund requests within 7 days of the event, refunds will be issued if the space is taken by someone on the waitlist.
