Blueway Accreditation and Development Process
The process of developing a Blueway to accredited status in provided in detail within the Blueway Developers Toolkit.
In summary:
STAGE 1: PLANNING & PRE-DEVELOPMENT
The Blueway Developer with guidance from the Blueway Coordinator and Development Advisor scopes and refines their proposed Blueway Concept in line with the Blueway Accreditation Criteria.
A Stage 1 - Preliminary Accreditation Application is made by the Blueway Developer and if successful the project will progress to Stage 2.
STAGE 2: DEVELOPMENT
The Blueway Developer with guidance from the Blueway Coordinator and Development Advisor develops the Blueway on the ground.
Once complete, the developer should submit a Stage 2 - Final Accreditation Application.
A Blueway Inspector will then assess the application and undertake a physical inspection to ensure the development work undertaken meets the criteria. If successful, the Blueway becomes accredited.
STAGE 3: OPERATION
Once Stage 2 accreditation has been achieved, the developer’s role becomes one of launching, promoting, managing, and maintaining the Blueway. Blueways are required to undertake re-accreditation within 3 years.
