At 4pm Irish time on Saturday 30th May join the #BEACTIVE HOUR

The impact of Covid-19 has been felt globally. Restrictions across Europe have put huge strain on everyone’s health and well-being. People have felt isolated, detached and levels of physical activity have been falling. But, physical activity has never played a more important role in people’s lives than today, it has the power to boost people’s mood, reduce concerns and make people feel healthier and happier.

On 30th May at 4pm Irish time we will come together to celebrate the role that exercise has played during this crisis. In keeping us entertained, keeping us healthy and keeping us active.

As we begin to move into a new phase, a new normal for our time, we share our commitment for the future: #BEACTIVE HOUR, our commitment to ourselves and those around us.

#BeActiveHour is supported by the European Commission and in Ireland it is supported by Sport Ireland and the Network of Local Sports Partnerships.

How can I get involved in #BeActiveHour?

This Saturday we encourage you to pick an activity, a game or a challenge from any of the Local Sports Partnerships or from an online source, gather the people in your household or set up a zoom call with friends and at 4pm enjoy the physical activity.

No matter what you do, a walk, a jog, a work out or a fun game take a photo and share it with Sport Ireland on social media using #BeActiveHour

We are in this together and together we will celebrate the power and joy of physical activity.

#BEACTIVE for Wellbeing

#BEACTIVE for Resilience

#BEACTIVE for Community

Make sure you follow all HSE guidelines when being physically active particularly so if you are outdoors. For more information on exercising outdoors during Covid-19 read the guidelines on  Stay Safe, Stay Local, Stay Safe in the Outdoors.
