The Ballyconneely and Roundstone Loop is the longest of the Clifden Cycle Hub Loops following the R341 around the coast and back across the lake-studded natural wilderness of Derrycunlagh on very minor road. The gradients are generally gentle and there are fine views. Care is required on the R341 and at some of the junctions with it.

On the advice of the great guys at Mannion Bike Hire in Clifden (who I highly recommend for renting some bikes complete with locks, helmets, bright colored safety vests, and a "saddle bag" for carrying your stuff), we chose this loop. We completed it in three hours, which included a stop for lunch for 45 minutes. It is a lovely ride, with no big uphills but instead some terrific small up and down hills. The views are super and I recommend this ride for seeing lots of the area. And just so you know, my husband and I are not major cycling enthusiasts. We ride probably about 12 times/year, although we do run about 3-5 miles/day so we are in decent shape.
