Irish Athletics Team Announced for the World Junior Wheelchair & Amputee Athletics Championships

IWA Sport’s Director of Sport, Mairead Farquharson today named an 18 member team to represent Ireland at the 2nd World Junior Athletics Championships which will take place in Morton Stadium, Santry from July 14th – 16th.

The championships will feature 105 athletes from 15 countries and will feature a number of athletes who have represented their countries at Paralympic and World level. Names include Swiss star and paralympic medalist Marcel Hug, Germany’s Alhassane Baldé and USA’s Jordan Bird also includes Cork’s Orla Barry and Dublin’s David Griffith amongst others.

In commenting of the upcoming event, Mairead Farquharson stated “IWA-Sport is proud to host this import World Championships. We are extremely proud on our athletes and this is a great opportunity to see our young and upcoming talent compete against the world’s best on home soil.”
