Table Tennis: Silver and Bronze for Ireland

Ireland won Silver and Bronze medals at the 6 Nations Primary Schools Table Tennis Championships at Parochial Hall, Gurranabraher, Cork, over the weekend 13-15 April 07. The event was hosted by the Irish Table Tennis Association and supported by the Irish Sports Council.

In the semi-finals Bates beat Alex Evans from Wales 3-1 and Smith beat Dawson 3-0. The final was another fine match between the two English girls with Bates confirming her top seeding, winning by three games to one.

In the Girls Consolation singles Emma Ludlow from Belfast beat Annalise Walker from Belfast 3-1 in the quarter final, before losing to Amy Rock of Dublin 3-2 in the semi-final. Rock had beaten Cherith McBride, from Belfast in the previous round. Rachel Harm of Guernsey beat Ciara Smith, from Cavan in the quarterfinal. Shannon Carre from Guernsey 12-10 then beat Rock in the final, 11-9, 11-8.
