Sport Ireland congratulates Nicole Turner on her Siler Medal

Sport Ireland congratulates Team Ireland’s newest silver medallist Nicole Turner. Nicole won silver in the  S6 50M Butterfly with a time of 36.30.

Nicole placed 5th in this event in Rio in  2016 and today she went in to the finals as the second fastest qualifier behind China’s Jiang Yuyan who set a new World Record in the heats.

Chairman of Sport Ireland Kieran Mulvey said: “Congratulations to Nicole on a superb race this morning. Nicole has had a stellar Paralympics so far with multiple PBs and she finished it off in style today with a silver medal in her favourite discipline. Nicole is passionate about swimming and is a strong advocate for para-swimming, encouraging others to work hard to achieve their dreams”.  

Sport Ireland Chief Executive John Treacy added: “On behalf of Sport Ireland I would like to congratulate Nicole on her silver medal and a phenomenal Paralympic Games overall. Nicole is a role model for so many . She has worked hard over the years to get to where she is today. I also extend congratulations to the team in Paralympics Ireland, Nicole’s coaches, family and all who have supported her throughout her career. At just 19 years of age there is more to come from Nicole and we look forward to seeing her continue to excel in the sport”.
