Sport Ireland once again congratulates Ireland’s newest Paralympic Gold medallists Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal. Following their silver medal success in the Velodrome and their gold medal in the Time Trial, Katie-George and Eve took gold in the Women’s B Road Race in a time of 2:35:53.

The duo stayed in the lead pack from the start in driving rain which made for treacherous conditions on the  Fuji International Speedway. They made a break with 600m to go and powered over the line to secure the gold.

Chairman of Sport Ireland Kieran Mulvey said: “Yet another phenomenal performance from Katie-George and Eve as they showed their skill and strength on the road. They led from the start and battled some very tough conditions to become Paralympic Champions once again. They have worked so hard for this moment and should savour every moment”.

Sport Ireland Chief Executive John Treacy added: “Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal are a powerhouse of Irish cycling and have once again done themselves and the nation proud. To return from a Paralympic Games with a silver and two golds is an extraordinary achievement. I would also like to congratulate the team in Paralympics Ireland, Cycling Ireland, their coach Neill and the rest of the team who have supported Katie-George and Eve throughout their careers and of course their families who will be waiting to welcome them home to celebrate”.
