Share the feeling this Cristmas with Special Olympics

As an introduction to the 2007 Support an Athlete Campaign, ‘A Special Christmas Time’ has been released to remind us all that we can still share the feeling Special Olympics.

With celebrities, Special Olympics athletes and children all donning festive Christmas hats and capturing the true Christmas spirit, ‘A Special Christmas Time’ is a beautifully arranged medley of eleven yuletide favourites including ‘Rudolph’ and ‘Deck the Halls’ to ‘White Christmas’ and ‘Jingle Bells’

Artistes featured on the CD are Tommy Fleming, Moya Brennan (Clannad), Simon Casey (You're a Star), Cora Venus Lunny (Violinist) and Kieran McGeeney (GAA and captain of the 2006 Irish Compromise Rules Team) singing with Special Olympics Athletes from Newry and children from Mossely School Choir (who performed at the opening ceremony of the 2006 Special Olympics Ireland Games in Belfast last June).

Special Olympics Ireland will launch all island campaign called Support an Athlete which will run from January to April 2007.  The public will be asked to fundraise of donate so Special Olympics Ireland can support the existing programme  of 11,000 athletes, 18,000 volunteers, 402 clubs and 100 community networks,  and also fund the recruitment process which will enable the organisation to create more opportunities for new athletes in their own community.

‘A Special Christmas Time’ is released by Rough Diamond Records, all profits from the single will go to Special Olympics Ireland as a prelude to the ‘Support an Athlete’ campaign.
