Muller Announces Young Squad For France

Earlier this morning, Ireland’s senior women’s coach Gene Muller, announced the squad of eighteen he will be bringing to France early next month.

Ireland travel to Paris on the 8th March to play against the French in a three match clash on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Gene’s squad omits a number of the Irish stalwarts including captain, Linda Caulfield.

“This is a very young team with the majority of the team under the age of 21. Many senior players were not selected for this event, as I want to give the younger players a good opportunity to play international hockey before settling on a more consistent playing squad in preparation for the European Championships.” Commented Muller.

“Selecting quality Irish teams and exposure to international hockey are both priorities right now – the intention is to think beyond the 2008 Olympic cycle while still having the best possible team for the European Championships.” He continued.

The Irish Squad for France is:
