The Irish Times Sport Ireland Sportswoman Award for July 2025 is boxer, Katie Taylor

As the only woman to win The Irish Times Sport Ireland Sportswoman of the Year trophy an amazing five times, Katie Taylor added yet another memorable chapter to her boxing story in July.

The Bray champion sportswoman beat Puerto Rico’s Amanda Serrano for the third time in their epic trilogy at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York. It was the first time that the famous venue hosted an all-female card. Taylor’s victory was shown live on Netflix and saw her crowned as the undisputed light-welterweight world champion.
