Kate O'Connor and Sarah Healy Named March 2025 Sportswoman of the Month

The Irish Times Sport Ireland Sportswoman of the Month March 2025: Kate O’Connor and Sarah Healy (Athletics)

The Irish Times Sport Ireland Sportswoman of the Month Award for March 2025 is a joint award and goes to athletes, Kate O’Connor and Sarah Healy. 
 
During a stretch of 36 minutes, in March, at the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, members of the Irish athletics team managed to help themselves to an impressive three medals.

 Mark English took bronze in the 800m, followed by Sarah Healy producing a golden run in the 3,000m, before Kate O’Connor made history by becoming the first Irish athlete to win a senior multi-event medal when she took bronze in the pentathlon. 

Just a fortnight later, O’Connor went one better at the World Indoor Athletic Championships, Nanjing, China.  The silver she won there was the first medal for Ireland at that event in 19 years.
