Canon Kirk Irish Open Squash Championships

The Cannon Kirk Irish Open Squash Championships will be held in Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club from 19-22 April 07. A qualifying event for the last 4 places in each draw will take place on 17-18 April. Apart from Ireland, the event has attracted international competition from England, Wales, France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, India, Columbia, New Zealand, The Netherlands and Malaysia.

Men’s
The top 4 seeds are ranked in the top 30 in the world. The No I seed and last year’s winner Borja Golan from Spain, ranked 20 in the world, is expected to meet No 2 seed Welsh man Alex Gough, World 24, in the Final. Also in the draw is Ireland’s Liam Kenny, World 33 and No 5 seed. Liam is seeded to meet last year’s finalist, the Italian and World 29 Davide Blanchetti in the Quarter Finals.

Women’s
The top 4 seeds are ranked in the top 20 in the world. The No 1 seed Ireland’s Madeline Perry, ranked 10 in the world, is expected to meet No 2 seed Isobelle Storeth, World 17, in the Final.  Also in the draw is Aisling Blake, who has jumped 20 places since this time last year and is currently ranked 38 in the world and seeded no 5.

Qualifiers will be held on 17th and 18th April.

Matches in the main draw begin on Thursday 19th at 2.00pm until 9.00pm; Friday 2.00pm to 9.00pm; Saturday Semi-Finals beginning at 4.00pm and Sunday Women’s Final; at 2.00pm and Men’s at 3.00pm

Entry to all matches is free as the organisers, Irish Squash, want the event to be a show case for Irish squash and to promote the game to younger players.
