Bob Kerr Irish Cup Final; North County take the cup

North County, spearheaded by a Man of the Match performance from Andre Botha, comprehensively defeated Fingal County rivals, The Hills by 105 runs in the Final of the Bob Kerr Irish Cup Final in Clontarf Cricket Club on Friday 31st August.


Botha put in an inspired performance by scoring 84 runs, including 10 boundaries in North County’s 259 for 8 after 50 overs. He was ably supported by Conor Armstrong with 41 and John and Paul Mooney, 31 runs apiece.


Unfortunately from the Hills perspective, Jeremy Bray was out for 9 and despite a half century from Barry Archer were eventually dismissed for 154, 105 runs in arrears. Botha achieved a hat- trick of wickets early in the innings and later took two magnificent catches out on the boundary. Leg Spinner Richie Lawrence ripped out the middle order by taking 5 wickets for 38 runs which effectively won the match.


Eddie Richardson’s last wicket dismissal of Nadeem Akhtar for 4 sparked great scenes of jubilation from the sizeable number of fervent North County fans. North County’s triumph was their 4th victory in the competition.
