St Michael's Athy are guaranteed at least a brace of  Irish titles after two of their boxers marched into next weekends National Senior  Championships finals following victories at the National Stadium in Dublin last night.
 
David Oliver Joyce booked his ticket into the featherweight decider following victory over Ross Hickey and will now meet his St Michael's Athy team-mate Eric Donovan in next Fridays final.
 
And next Fridays welterweight showdown will also be an all St Michael's Athy affair after David Joyce set up a 69Kg final with Roy Sheahan.
 
The Sheahan/Joyce clash is a repeat of last years final which Sheahan won 12-8.
 
John Joe Joyce, also of St Michael's Athy-who were presented with the IABA club of the year award at the recent IABA awards night-will compete in next Fridays lightweight final versus Ciaran Bates of St Aidens.
 
Bates progressed to the 60Kg decider after chalking up an impressive victory over JP Campbell.
 
Clonmels Kevin Fennnessy goes head-to-head with Ulster Senior champion Ryan Lindberg in the 54Kg final after he edged out TJ Doheny in a very close bantamweight clash.
 
Tommy Dwyer of the St Aidens club is also within one fight of a senior title following  a hard fought victory  over Mark Wickham.
 
Meanwhile, Belfast Eamon O'Kane recorded a 4th round stoppage of Sean Shevlin to set up a 75Kg meeting with defending champ Darren Sutherland  and Dromores Willie Mitchell clashes with six times national champ and European bronze medallist Ken Egan.
 
Last night's heavyweight clash between John Sweeney and Michael Mullaney produced the fight of the evening with the lead changing hands twice before Sweeney forced Mullaney into a standing count in the fourth en route to victory.
 
The super heavyweight contest went the way of Belfast's Cathal McMonagle  who defeated Drimnaghs Simon O'Reilly.
 
The 2007 National Senior Championships will resume with finals night at the Stadium in Dublin next Friday night (February 2nd).
 
World and back-to-back lightweight champion Katie Taylor will meet Finland's Eva Walstrom on  finals night
in a repeat of the 2005 European final and 2006 World Championships last 16 decider.Taylor won both fights.
