ANTI DOPING Anti-Doping Disciplinary Hearing

The Irish Sports Council announced today (May 13) that the independent Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel has found that, Adriana Spears, a player in Basketball Ireland Women’s Super League committed an anti-doping rule violation.

The rule violation is that contrary to Article 2.1 of the Rules the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolite, cocaine, was found in a sample of her urine collected in competition testing at the Vienna Woods Glanmire vs Mercy Coolock match on the 27th November 2004.

Ms Spears has been sanctioned by the imposition on her of a period of two years ineligibility from participation in all sport effective from the date of her provisional suspension, the 20th December 2004.

The process was held under Article 8, Disciplinary Procedure, of the Irish Anti-Doping Rules. Today’s announcement is pursuant to Article 15 (Public Disclosure), of the Rules.
