An Post Irish Sports Council Tour of Sligo 2010

Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership is delighted to announce the return of the An Post Tour of Sligo 2010 on Sunday 9th May. Cycling legend, Sean Kelly is the ambassador for the An Post Cycle Series and An Post Tour of Sligo is delighted that he will be coming to Sligo to participate in the event. It will be a wonderful occasion for local and visiting cycling enthusiasts to have an opportunity to cycle alongside living cycling legend Sean Kelly, so Get on Your Bike and Be Part of An Post Tour of Sligo 2010

The first cycle event of this kind in Sligo was held last year and was an outstanding success involving 723 cyclists of all ages and cycling ability on their bikes - so lets build on this and make it an even bigger and better event in 2010!. This cycling tour will afford people of Sligo and visitors to the County, the chance to enjoy stunning scenery ranging from majestic mountains to spectacular sea views and including picturesque country scenery and rural villages from the saddle of a bike.

The Event

The event will involve 3 different routes and will hopefully accommodate a wide range of cycling interests, including the leisure cyclist, family cycling and of course seasoned/experienced cyclists.


10k Hazelwood Spin for All

Description: The Hazelwood Family Spin, at 10 km, is a gentle event for those new to cycling and is particularly suitable for family participation

 

60k Lough Gill Circuit

Description: The Lough Gill Circuit, at 60 km, is a relatively flat route that is suitable for those who have a good level of fitness and will be enjoyed by leisure cyclists as well as more experienced touring cyclists

 

160k The Ox Mountain Challenge

Description: The Ox Mountain Challenge is a tough and challenging cycle and not for the fainthearted. Almost 160 km (100 miles) in distance, it includes a number of challenging climbs and is suitable only for very experienced and very fit full-time cyclists
