Annual Governance Conference

Sport Ireland is excited to announce further details for the 2023 Annual Governance Conference. Organised in conjunction with our Gov-Enhance Programme, this is a flagship event in terms of Sport Ireland’s ongoing commitment to supporting, improving, and enhancing the governance capabilities of Sport Ireland funded bodies.

The 2023 Conference will take place on Thursday the 23rd of November from 11:00am to 4:00pm in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown.  This year will again include a Female Leadership Networking reception before the main event.

Registration for the conference will take place from 10:30am with refreshments available on arrival giving people an opportunity to network with other attendees before the event.  The event will be MC’d by Joanne O’Riordan, an activist for people with disabilities and a sports columnist with The Irish Times.

This year’s conference theme is “Embedding Good Governance: Sustainability. Working Effectively. Leadership.”

When reflecting on the implementation of good governance, it is not considered as a destination but more of a continuous journey.  Embedding good governance is a means towards ensuring an organisation’s well-being and long-term success, facilitating organisational performance, and achieving of both agreed objectives and an overall mission.

Attendance at the Conference is open to the Sport Ireland recognised bodies with Board members, senior staff and governance leads encouraged to register via their Organisation.  For more information, please email odc@sportireland.ie

Sport Ireland is working with the sector to finalise a fantastic programme for the day, full of relevant and topical sessions incorporating both presentation style and panel discussions. In keeping with the theme above, the Conference will address:

  • Embedding good governance

  • Environmental sustainability

  • Working Effectively

  • Strengthening governance

  • Leading and influencing change
