Coach Developer
Coach Developer Training and Support
A Coach/Instructor Developer educates and supports coaches throughout their coaching career. The suite of programmes offered by Sport Ireland Coaching in conjunction with the NGBs ensures they have the knowledge, skills and expertise they need for the role.
The Coach Developer suite of Programmes provides a structure where support is the main theme. This Overview of Coach and Coach Developer Support shows who trains and supports whom within this structure, which elements are multi-sport and which are sport specific. Our experience and anecdotal evidence, shows that training Coach Developers and Coach Developer Assessors in a multi-sport setting, before they go back into their NGB to apply their skills, has longer lasting and wider knowledge base benefits than single sport only.
There are currently three fully qualified members of the Trainer team (Two full time staff, one external) and one administrator.
COVID19 has affected a number of the planned Coach Developer related programmes, but at present (July 2020), CDC37 is taking place, with the first and second weekends being delivered online. All interested parties will be kept informed of any/all changes. All other programmes are currently suspended.
