Sport Ireland and Motorsport Ireland jointly announce that Darragh Daly has committed an anti-doping rule violation
Sport Ireland and Motorsport Ireland jointly announced today that Darragh Daly has committed an anti-doping rule violation.
Mr Daly, a driver, tested positive for the cocaine metabolite, benzoylecgonine, in a Sample collected in In-Competition Testing on October 19th , 2025, contrary to Articles 2.1 and 2.2 of the Irish Anti-Doping Rules.
On November 17th, 2025, Sport Ireland notified Mr Daly that he was provisionally suspended.
On December 10th, 2025, Sport Ireland formally charged the athlete with the ADRV. The athlete admitted the violation and sanction proposed by Sport Ireland on December 25th, 2025.
The sanctions imposed include a period of Ineligibility (or ban) of three months with effect from November 17th, 2025. The athlete’s period of ineligibility will expire at midnight on February 16th, 2026.
In addition, all results obtained by the athlete in competitions from (and including) October 19th, 2025, until the commencement of the athlete's provisional suspension on November 17th, 2025, are disqualified, with all the resulting consequences including forfeiture of any medals, points and prizes during the period in question.
