The Irish Sports Council welcomes the announcement that Mr Mark O’Leary has been appointed as Financial Director of the Football Association of Ireland.  The Genesis Report of 2002 recommended the creation of the post of Financial Director. The Irish Sports Council regarded this as crucial to the future development of the FAI and welcomes the appointment of a high calibre professional to the position.  The Council has been working closely with the FAI in recent months and recognises the significant efforts and advances that have been made across the range of the Genesis recommendations.  John Treacy, Chief Executive, commented: “The structures, governance and management of the FAI have entered a new phase and the Council looks forward to working closely with the FAI in the future for the benefit of Irish sport”.
