Athletics: Irish performances at Bisset Games in Oslo

Good performances from Derval O’Rourke and Paul Hession at Bisslet Games in Oslo

Story from www.athleticsireland.ie

Derval O’Rourke, running her second race in nine months, and her second in two days, was one of several Irish athletes in action at the IAAF Golden League Bislett Games in Oslo tonight.

O’Rourke finished seventh in the 100m hurdles in a time of 13.19, a big improvement on the 13.69 she clocked in Stavanger on Wednesday. The two races will have brought her on a ton as she prepares for the European Cup in Finland next weekend, followed by Cork City Sports a week later.

New Irish 100m record holder Paul Hession was fourth in the 200m and his time of 20.53 was faster than Paul Brizzel’s Irish record for the distance. However, the wind was just over the legal limit so he will have to wait a little while longer to re-write the 200m mark.

James Nolan was ninth in the 1,500m, Roisin McGettigan 14th in the 3,000m steeplechase, and Anna Boyle 6th in the 100m.
