Leitrim Way

Nice handy easy trail. Did it from Dowra to Leitrim village as part of the Beara-Breifne way, very well marked, it's only re-opened in the last few months. 27km is about right. 9km through farmlands(boots needed during wet periods) with gentle hills from Dowra ends at St. Hugh's well with a picnic area and sweathouse. Next 9km to Drumshanbo almost exclusively on bohreen (don't need boots) some gentle slopes here again. Final 9km mostly follows the blueway all the way to Leitrim. It's like 3 walks in one! Very easy to walk, the bits on road we flew by, great to stop in a town like Drumshanbo for a tea/food, but the picnic area at Hugh's well was nice too.

Hard to find up-to-date details on the Letirim way, but from what I heard the part between Dowra and Manorhamilton is closed, so the maps and distance here are up to date as of July 2020 but it would only need a day, not two days, and I would probably classify this one as an easy grade because of the 18km of paths and roads and not too many steep hills. Lots of steps in and out of fields on the farmland section.
