European Week of Sport
23-30 September 2026
European Week of Sport
#BeActive Your Way
European Week of Sport is a European Commission initiative that celebrates sport and physical activity across all EU member states. Running from 23rd - 30th September 2026, European Week of Sport brings together Local Sports Partnerships, National Governing Bodies, clubs and community groups across Ireland to showcase the power of movement to transform lives.
This year's campaign falls during Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the EU, making European Week of Sport 2026 a landmark moment for Irish sport on the European stage. Under the #BeActive banner, we're calling on everyone (individuals, communities and organisations) to organise or take part in a sport or physical activity event during the week.
Our goal is simple: to get as many people as possible moving, especially those who face the greatest barriers to participation, including older adults, people with disabilities, women and girls, and migrants and new communities.
Themed Activation Days
Across European Week of Sport 2026, a range of themed activations will bring people of all ages and abilities together through sport and physical activity. Explore the events taking place across Ireland & find an opportunity to get involved and #BeActive.
#BeActive Nights
