WADA published the 2024 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods (Prohibited List) during its meeting on 22 September 2023 and enters into force on 1 January 2024. The document provided by the World Anti-Doping Agency identifies substances and methods prohibited in sport. The list remains mostly static from year-to-year, but there are some key changes for 2024.

Most notably, the substance tramadol is now prohibited in-competition. Research studies funded by WADA have confirmed the potential for tramadol to enhance physical performance, in addition to its potential to adversely affect athlete health. The addition of tramadol to the 2024 Prohibited List had previously been confirmed at the WADA Executive Committee meeting last year.
