Rock Climbing!

HER Outdoors Week returns once again from 11th – 17th August, and what a week it will be! The week is all about providing more opportunities for ALL females to escape to the outdoors and try something new.

This Introduction to Rock Climbing activity will be based in Clare, meeting at the the layby just beyond Ballyryan crag (https://maps.app.goo.gl/gqHYk8Rr3zpsAG9JA?g_st=ac).

This activity is suitable for those who are keen to try this exhilarating sport and acquire the fundamental skills of rock climbing. You will learn some climbing skills, movement techniques, simple knots, rope work and belaying and some advice in order to start climbing more often.

What gear do I need?

  • Bring your own helmet, climbing shoes and harness if you have them, along with any other kit you may have. Harnesses and helmets will be provided otherwise. If you don’t have climbing shoes, bring a sturdy pair of shoes with a good rubber grip.
  • You should wear hiking boots/shoes for the walk into the crag.
  • Comfortable clothing, e.g. leggings / tracksuit bottoms, breathable T-Shirt and fleece & an extra warm layer (try to avoid cotton)
  • Waterproof jacket and pants
  • Water and snacks
  • Sunscreen, personal medicine, inhaler, Epipen, etc.

Refund policy: refunds will be issued if requested at least 7 days prior to the event. For refund requests within 7 days of the event, refunds will be issued if the space is taken by someone on the waitlist.
