Sport Ireland, in collaboration with The Irish Times, is pleased to announce Aoife Wafer as the recipient of the April 2025 Sportswoman of the Month award.

The Wexford native delivered a series of remarkable performances in the 2025 Women’s Six Nations, emerging as one of the tournament's standout players. Wafer led the competition in carries and ranked as the joint-second highest try scorer with four tries—matching the highest total by any forward. She completed 70 carries for a total of 424.7 metres, demonstrating exceptional athleticism and consistency throughout the campaign.

Despite missing Ireland’s final fixture due to injury, Wafer's impact on the tournament was significant. Her performance earned her a nomination for the Women’s Six Nations Player of the Year, and she was one of three Irish players shortlisted for the Team of the Championship, selected through public vote.

At just 22 years of age, Wafer’s contribution to Irish rugby continues to grow, cementing her status as one of the sport’s most promising talents. Sport Ireland extends its congratulations to Aoife on this well-deserved recognition.
