What started out as a pretty bleak and gloomy day ended in glorious sunshine that made our hike around Inishbofin something very special.

There is an atmosphere on the small west coast islands, as you gaze westwards to the curved horizon in the far far distance, that awakens the spirit and soothes the soul. As long as it's not howling with wind and lashing with rain that is, which it probably does a lot.

We only had 4 hours on the island before the ferry back but that was long enough to do the Middle as well as the Westquarter walks.

It would have been nice to spend the night and also explore the Eastern Quarter and the fort on Port Island, and also a trip out to Inishark. All of which can be done at the Walking Festival which takes place soon - 22nd-24th April. Hurry on!

A great pleasure of the walks was to be able to take the dogs (on leads). Even with sheep about there were none of the usual No Dogs signs. Refreshing.

Beautiful. When you finnish the walk get bicycle and cycle round the island. P.S. shame about all the scrap cars everywhere.
