Fergus from Cavan

This is a nice easy short walk using paths, tracks and crossing several fields. In early January it was very mucky under foot but that is to be expected at this time of year. Although not very fit we completed the route in 65 minutes. From the highest point on the trail there are splendid views over Swalinbar and the surrounding countryside. The provision of styles makes crossing fences and gates very easy. The trail is however let down by poor and confusing signage. There appears to be two trails in the area using different signs. Unfortunately I found several of the waymarker posts uprooted and dumped in ditches. Where u cross the fields at the derelict stone houses there were no markers at all. I did eventually meet up with the 'green laneway'.
