Duhallow - Source of Blackwater loop

Following forestry roads and woodland paths this loop brings the walker to the source of the Blackwater River where it rises under Knockanefune, swinging back by Muinganine and over the shoulder of Doctor's Hill.

I have never written a review on here before but I feel I have to in this case. I walked the loop yesterday and was so annoyed and disappointed at the same time.

The first 3 km of the walk is an actual building site, a new wind farm is being built. Very heavy machinery, huge potholes along the way, diggers and cars everywhere, it's loud and you can't actually walk there without having to slalom walk heavy machinery. The trail is covered in ugly building site signs. No peace and tranquility whatsoever. Once you reach the source of the Blackwater, you leave the main path and from here you won't see anything like it anymore, but, the noise from the building site can be heard for many more km. It's a shame really, nature is getting ruined!
