This is a challenging, remote and exposed cliff top path which requires high levels of fitness. It is narrow with steep ascents, flagstone steps, farm tracks and local and regional road and views of the Atlantic Ocean, the cliffs and the hinterland which are stunningly spectacular.

I walked alone from Doolin to Hags Head on a beautiful clear April day. The spectacular views and wonderful memories will remain with me forever. It requires a average level of fitness, good footwear and a head for heights in places. A truly memorable experience

This views on this trail are stunning. It can be mucky in parts and goes very close to the cliff edge. Proper hiking shoes/boots should be worn. It is slightly easier going from Liscannor to Doolin as there are more downhills. This walk is a great way to get the full experience of the Cliffs of Moher. The cafe at the Cliffs is a welcome stop along the way. Highly recommended.

Great walk!

Parked the car at Doolin Fisher Street. Took the hopon-hopoff-bus there (6€ for the whole day - including Visitor Centre) to the south-end Hag's Head and walked back to Fisher Street. The walk (including a lot of breaks and a long break at the cliffs and the exhibition there) took 6 hours. Awesome! This direction is better cause it's mostly downhill!

After doing the Liscannor to Cliffs-of-Moher on one day, we just did the Cliffs-of-Moher to Doolin segment (8km) as a family with three kids (12,10,6).

It is just as good as the first segment, but different in many ways. It has some cliff segments but much of it is through farmland or more shoreside. It is not technical or difficult but even though we walked in good weather there were some boggy parts though fields. Kids got their sneakers muddy and whined a bit but no big deal. The muck and bog can be avoided by walking through the middle of the field.

Scenery was just as spectacular coming into Doolin. Terrific waves and rainbows on the spray. Much fewer people than the Liscannor segment.

6 year old was able to handle the walk no problem....so just reasonable fitness required. I think going the reverse direction (Doolin to Cliffs) would be a bit harder.

Well done to everyone who made this trail a reality.

We did the walk from the car park near Liscannor to the Cliffs of Moher centre (and back) in perfect weather. Our group included 3 kids (12,10,6). It's a fairly easy walk of about 5k each way on path and trail. For a lot of the trail it's apparent that a new path has been constructed to make it safer. I'd have no problem recommending it for families - in good weather runners and a reasonable degree of fitness required.

I can't comment on what it would be like in strong winds.

Well done to everyone who improved this trail. We're hoping to do the walk to/from Doolin with kids and will comment on that.

I walked the full trail from Liscannor village to Doolin in July 2014. I agree with previous commenters that this is a spectacular trail that provides a more rewarding way of experiencing the Cliffs than the typical short visit to the area near the Visitor Centre. Although it is isolated and exposed, the work that has been done on surfacing, waymarking and so on means it is quite straightforward for anyone who is properly equipped and used to walking. Bus Eireann route 350 links Doolin to Liscannor, a useful option for a one way linear route.

I did this trail with two friends from Doolin to Liscannor (4 hr 15 mins) on the 11th July '14 in misty damp weather with little visibility. I recommend it as a beautiful walk and was hugely impressed by the attention to detail on the route. The mini bridges and steps constructed from local stone were very impressive. I did the old route some years ago and and this addition to it at Doolin is very welcome. We Left Doolin at 10.30 am and arrived in Liscannor at 14.45 and caught the 15.15 Bus Eireann bus back to Doolin. Congrats to all involved on a must do trail. Mce

I completed this walk with a group on 15/6/14. The weather was glorious that day and the scenery was spectacular! The track is very well laid out and very easy to access. We set off from Liscannor and made our way for 6 klms to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre where we had a 45min break. It was very busy around the centre with lots of people walking about enjoying the fantastic views. We continued along the track for a further 7 klms to Doolin. The cliffs are really spectacular and well worth a visit. I know that the weather on the day was an advantage but I would highly recommend this walk and I will definitely be back to Clare to enjoy the wonderful scenery which this coastal path has to offer.

Did this walk on 15th June 2014 on a glorious warm, sunny Sunday from Liscannor to Doolin. Fantastic walk, stunning views of the cliffs, Aran Islands, Galway Bay, Doolin and on the day we were there, the Twelve Bens. Allow plenty of time to take it all in. Great work has been done on the path making it an an easy enough walk, though there are some tricky spots. The visitor centre was very busy as you would expect, but good place to stop for refreshments. In total it took us approx 5 hours.

What a fantastic experience - walked from Doolin to the Cliffs. Took our time (2 adults, 3 kids) and it took about 2hrs. The access and the views are stunning - just remember to stop and look at where you are. The views across the mouth of Galway Bay into Aran are spectacular. I'm not the greatest fan of the Cliffs visitor centre but it is a great place to complete the trail and have a cuppa before the return leg to Doolin. On the way back, from the visitor centre to Doolin, you will get a completely different view from the outbound leg. Views into Doolin are majestic and provide an entirely different perspective. This is a jewel.
