BeActive Awards 2018

The #BeActive Awards competition is a central element of the annual European Week of Sport and has been created to support projects and individuals dedicated to the promotion of sport and physical activity across Europe.

There are three award categories: #BeActive Education Award, #BeActive Workplace Award & #BeActive Local Hero Award

In 2016, Ireland had three finalists and an overall winner of a European #BeActive Award, St Clare’s National School, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan. See the video below to find out more about their story.

In 2017, Patricia Buckley of Castlerea parkrun was nominated in the Local Hero category.

Selection process: Sport Ireland as the National Coordinating Body for the European Week of Sport in Ireland can submit a maximum of three entries across all three award categories. The European Commission will then make a pre-selection of finalists to be put forward to a high profile jury. This jury will select three finalists for all three award categories. By late August, the European Commission will contact the National Coordinators and EWoS Partners regarding the finalists. A representative of each finalist will be invited to attend the Awards Gala in Sofia (Bulgaria). All the finalists may be accompanied by one other person whose travel and accommodation will also be paid for.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 24th July and completed application forms should be emailed to ewos@sportireland.ie

The ultimate winner in each category will receive €5,000, a trophy and a professional video clip of the winning initative to showcase their success.
