Sport Ireland teamed up once again with RTÉ's Operation Transformation by organising a number of nationwide walks which took place in over fifty locations all around Ireland.
The highest number to date took part in this year's walk with over 19,000 people participating.
The nationwide walks are delivered by Sport Ireland, Local Sports partnerships and are a very important event in the promotion of healthy living and the pursuit of exercise.
John Treacy, CEO Sport Ireland commented: "Participation in physical activity is on the increase and recreational walking is hugely popular. Every year, thousands of people join our Nationwide Walks and the support they give each other, and the Operation Transformation leaders is fantastic".
The Operation Transformation 5k Fun Runs will also take place this year on Saturday, February 20th at 9.30am in the Phoenix Park, Dublin in conjunction with Sport Ireland, Dublin City Sport & Wellbeing Partnership and Athletics Ireland. These events are a great way of getting people active and kick-starting a healthier life.
